ABOUT

Grace Niskanen has been creating art from an early age, earning a spot at Perpich Arts High School and continuing her arts education by receiving a scholarship to the Minneapolis College of Art and Design. A lifelong entrepreneur, Grace has sold her work at restaurants, exhibitions, venues and festivals, even private events such as parties and weddings . She regularly engages in collaborative art projects as well as organized art shows and markets.

Her diverse portfolio includes creating informational/functional art like infographics, making poster art for events, drawing logos for brands and bands and doing various commission work like personal portraits, home art, furniture and murals.

Grace studied under Oregon-native marble sculptor Jack Langford from ages 11 - 18, where she gained experience with serious art critique and discussion, various sculptural and painting techniques, mold-making, bronze casting and foundry work, eventually culminating in 2 annual self-organized open-studio art exhibitions.

Equipped with a solid set of sketching and visual language skills, Grace is now an emerging three-dimensional artist with an eye for detail. She is currently finalizing her Furniture/Product Design degree at MCAD, where she’s been named to the Dean’s List. She also works at Siwek Lumber in Northeast Minneapolis where she’s been building her experience in woodworking.

Grace aims to look beyond her personal preferences to create enigmatic designs that have the ability to better improve the experiences of other people. She applies her drawing and illustration skills as a tool to expand her creative horizons and to bring artfully functional designs to life.
